EDF have now run the cable to the pavilion. As part of that work they have cut back part of the hedge along the path under the overhead power lines (see picture). This is in preparation for installing a second pole and the transformer. The hope is that they will complete the work before the end of the month.
Meanwhile I have ordered a meter from EDF and given the Parish Council as the customer. When ordering I was told that it could take up to 14 days for them to get back to me to arrange a fitting date. Obviously this needs to be after the supply is connected. Once installed we will have power.
Outstanding items:
Legal agreements – Still waiting for final version back from tennis club. It is with Elaine Bragg who is away at the moment.
EDF need to agree an “easement” for access to the new pole and cabling with the land-owner’s solicitor. Fortunately there is a good chap at EDF who has not allowed this to prevent the work going ahead.
Fitting of code locks. This will be sorted by Barry soon.
Safety. Once the power is connected we need to get the electrics checked. We may be able to get this done for free. Otherwise there will be a charge but we do need it done to ensure that the PC is covered in case of an accident.
Insurance. Currently we are under insured. The PC policy is due for renewal so this well be corrected shortly. I do however need to speak to them to agree what costs are insurable before agreeing a value.
Finances. We are expecting Barry’s costs to be £3,500. The project has £1,384 left in the budget and I have discussed a split in these costs with Keith Crofton which would result in us paying £1,454, representing a project over-spend of just under £70. Keith will obviously need to clear this with the Tennis Club committee.
Keith Crofton has today confirmed that the financials have been agreed by Jackie Rickford.
ReplyDeleteAlistair,
ReplyDeleteThis all looks good news for the Sports Pavilion and the Blog seems to be an easy way to keep up to date on running topics.
We have hit a glitch with the installation of power. The chap at Garthlands has discovered that if EDF need to do work on his land that he has the right to request that they reroute the cabling. Since he wanted the cables buried anyway he is obviously seeing this as an opportunity to get it done for free. The problem is that it would delay the completion of the project by at least a year!
ReplyDeleteRe codelocks - Barry tells me he is fitting them on the toilet and store today.
I am therefore liaising with the EDF lawyer as I we need to find a way round this. The obvious solutions would be to a) prove that the land does not belong to Garthlands or b) take for supply from the next pole along (assuming that we can get permission from Alice Cherry).
The code locks have now been fitted. The codes are as follows:
ReplyDeleteToilet: C3570Z
Store room: C1570X
Had on-site meeting withy EDF and Alice Cherry today and believe we now have an agreed plan for getting power connected.
ReplyDeleteThis will require Alice to sign a "wayleave" agreement to allow EDF to erect the pole on her land and will require planning permission from NHDC which can take up to 6 weeks.
We therefore anticipate that the supply will be installed within the next 6 weeks.
Fingers crossed!
